Women's Rights Protests in Iran Reach Eighth Week

326 protestors (including 43 children) have been killed amid the ongoing protests following the death of Mahsa Amini. The young woman was alleged beaten to death by morality police after being stopped for not wearing her hijab properly.

Olympe de Gouges (1748 – 1793) is considered one of the founding philosophers behind modern feminism. She wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female Citizen, one of the first feminist manifestos. She was eventually arrested and executed by guillotine for her views.
