Toni Morrison - Pulitzer Prize Winner
Toni Morrison (1931 – 2019) was an American novelist. Born to a working class family, she earned a Masters degree in literature from Cornell University. Repeated experiences with brutal and violent racism in her childhood greatly influenced her later novels, which are considered some of the most historically significant pieces of social commentary on race in the United States at the time.
Her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Beloved follows the story of a family of formerly enslaved people living in dysfunction in Ohio in the late 1800s. The story follows their struggles to cope with the traumas of slavery and how it impacts their relationships and self-perception. It was later adapted into a film starring Oprah Winfrey.

Germaine Greer
Germaine Greer (born 1939) is an Australian academic, polymath, and author. She is considered one of the most prominent radical feminists of the 20th century. Her book The Female Eunuch, an examination of suburban nuclear-family culture and how it represses female sexuality, is an international bestseller and one of the most-read works of feminist literature ever written.
She has written prolifically on feminism and related topics over the years, covering the subjects of female sexuality, rape, menopause, sex/gender distinction, and the struggles of the indigenous Aboriginal people of Australia.

Alice Paul - Suffragist & Women's Rights Activist
Alice Paul (1885 – 1977) was an American Quaker, women's rights activist, and suffragist. She was one of the foremost strategists and leaders in the fight for women's right to vote in the United States.
She organized multiple demonstrations for the campaign. This included the Silent Sentinels - a group of over 2,000 women who picketed in front of the White House for for five straight months, only stopping when the Nineteenth Amendment was finally passed. She also helped organize the first march for women's right to vote, the Women's Suffrage Procession, which gathered over 5,000 women (some estimates put the number closer to 10,000).
Paul was frequently the victim of police brutality, physical abuse, and was jailed under terrible conditions. Despite this, she continued her activism and led the National Women's Party for 50 years, continuing the fight for legislation to expand the rights of women.

Women in Iran continue to openly defy the country's mandatory Hijab laws. The widespread refusal to wear the head scarves has continued to grow over the past several months, following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini and the poisoning of dozens of school girls. The government has paused in its previously aggressive enforcement of their hijab policy after the country gained international attention for the on-going unrest and brutal treatment of political activists.
Activists behind the Women's March are rushing to organize last-minute protests against the on-going lawsuit that could result in limited-access or banning of two abortion drugs commonly used by women in the U.S. The demonstrations are planned for Wednesday outside of the courthouse where a judge will hear oral arguments in the case. The lawsuit, made by a conservative pro-life legal group, claims the widely-used medications pose potential undisclosed risks to women's health.
Protests have continued in Israel in opposition to the government's plans to overhaul of the country's judiciary system. Women's rights activists say the decision will allow the government to strip women of their legal rights and lead the country into a dark age. Large numbers of activists have made regular appearances at demonstrations wearing the red robes and white bonnets from the tv show The Handmaid's Tale as a visual warning of what is to come.
