Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Pioneer Feminist, dies at age 84

Dorothy Pitman Hughes was a second-wave feminist, child welfare advocate, and lifelong community activist who toured the country speaking with Gloria Steinem in the 1970s. She was co-founder of Ms. Magazine and early Black Feminist.

Theresa Kachindamoto - The “Terminator” of child marriages

Theresa Kachindamoto is paramount chief of the Dedza district in Malawi who has fought to abolish child marriage, annulled over 1000 marriages, and increased the age of consent to 18. She has worked in her local government for over two decades after being elected in 2003. She started her efforts by forming local networks of women in order to identify and help vulnerable girls.
